Course Policies

What You Can Expect from Me

  • I will start class on time and keep you no longer than 2 minutes past the end time.
  • I will apply all course policies fairly and equally.
  • I will fully explain all requirements for assignments.
  • I will keep regular office hours and be available at alternate times when needed.
  • I will answer all emails within 24 hours (except for weekends and holidays).
  • I will grade and return assignments within 2 course meetings.
  • I will strive to create a civil, productive, and nurturing classroom environment.

What I Expect from You

  • Students will attend class and be on time. You may miss up to three classes without penalty. Each class missed after the third will reduce your final grade by five points. Students who miss more than five classes will not receive credit for the course. Entering the classroom after roll is called will be counted as late and it is the student’s responsibility to check with the instructor after class to make sure that they are given partial credit for attending class. Excessive tardiness (more than 3 times) will be counted as absences.
  • Students will be prepared for each class and participate in all in-class activities. Reading assignments are to be completed before class and students should be ready to discuss the material.
  • Students will turn in all work on time and in the required format. Late work will not be accepted except in extreme emergencies (which will be determined by the instructor). This includes deadlines for online postings from each team.
  • Students will do their own work. Plagiarism (claiming credit for someone else’s work) is a serious violation of University policy. Students who violate this policy will receive zero credit for the assignment and will be closely monitored on all future assignments. For more information about the University's policy on academic honesty, go here.
  • Students will respect the classroom, professor, and other students. Disrespectful behavior includes side conversations, reading the newspaper, doing assignments for other courses, sleeping, text messaging, and any other behavior that presents a distraction for me or your fellow students. Continued violations will result in a student being removed from the course.
  • Students will turn off all cell phones and other electronic devices before class starts.
